One Day in-house Training Programme on Analytical Instrumentation

CIAB has recently initiated an in-house training programme on the use of analytical instrumentation which was coordinated by Dr. S. Saravanamurugan, Scientists E, CIAB. In this connection, ‘One Day Training Programme on Analytical Instrumentation’ was organized on 26 August, 2019 in which eighteen research scholars from multidisciplinary areas (Chemistry, Food and Biotechnology) at the level of Ph.D and post-doctoral participated. Faculties gave lectures on topics such as Chromatographic Techniques (High-Pressure Liquid Chromatography and Gas Chromatography), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Kjeldahl Protein Analyser, Fermenters and Downstream Processing (membrane filtration) followed by a detailed demonstration by technical staff. During the lecture, the principle, importance and various applications of each instrument were presented and discussed thoroughly with participants. During the demonstration, the participants had opportunities to discuss in detail with the technical staff on how each instrument functions based on the theory given during the lecture, and how to perform a quantitative and qualitative analysis of the samples was also explained to the participants. While taking feedback from the participants, the concluding session was addressed by Dr. T. R. Sharma CEO, CIAB. He stressed upon the importance of such trainings in the career of students and young scientists of the institute.
